It's Monday morning, you had a great weekend, and now you have to attend a seminar at work. You grab your cup of coffee, maybe a bagel or muffin, and you find the seat that you are going to be most comfortable in. You get settled in and you wait anxiously for the presenter to begin.
What are your expectations of the presenter's public speaking skills?
Are you expecting to be put to sleep or are you expecting to be engaged?
Are you expecting to learn something new or be told something you already know?
Are you expecting this is going to be worth your while? Or are you expecting that this will be a waste of time?
Be engaging and your audience will be engaged
When you are the presenter, your audience has the same expectations of you? No matter what those expectations are, your goal should be to exceed them. One of the best ways to exceed their expectations is to fully engage your audience while delivering worthwhile information.
Start strong and you will continue strong
To engage and energize your audience you need to start strong. Have a great opening that will grab their attention, say it with total confidence, and most importantly, bring your most animated, enthusiastic, and charismatic personality to the platform.
It's the beginning of the New Year and that means most people are full of energy. They are ready to start the New Year strong. When we start strong with good public speaking skills we're more likely to continue strong. If you start the New Year without any energy, motivation, or drive, you may not be able to get it in February or any other month.
Starting a presentation strong with lots of energy and enthusiasm will help you to continue strong throughout your entire presentation.
Set an energetic tone
Start the New Year strong and start all of your presentations strong. Set the tone for the year, set the tone for your presentation. Keep that energy throughout the entire year, and keep that energy throughout your entire presentation.
Create high energy results from your presentations by creating energy in the room and keeping your audience awake, alert, and engaged.
Energetic audiences produce high energy results
If you start the New Year off with high energy you will produce high energy results. Whether it's to exercise, eat better, work harder, or improve your public speaking skills.
If you start your presentation with high energy, you are more likely to keep that energy throughout your presentation, and your audience will stay energized. Whether it's to motivate, educate, or sell to your audience, a high energy presentation will produce high energy results.
Happy New Year!
Have a very happy, healthy, and energetic New Year!
May all of your 2007 presentations be better than the ones you gave in 2006. Even if they were great. It's time to take your speaking skills to the next level and get even better!
